2018 was Deliverr’s first Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and in true Deliverr fashion, we kept a close eye on metrics. Here’s what we discovered in terms of sales boost, category trends, and more.
Boost in sales
Looking at our daily order volumes and averages, the average daily order volume across all Deliverr sellers tripled on Black Friday (and almost quadrupled on Cyber Monday), with one seller seeing a 15x increase.
We predict this will only get better, as Walmart’s year-over-year Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales is up 23%.
The top categories we noticed that did especially well were:
Fast shipping exceeding seller expectations
Looking back, Black Friday and Cyber Monday exceeded our sellers’ expectations, particularly on Walmart. Many of them underestimated their sales velocity, even if they had the same items on sale last year.
With 2-day shipping tags and access to performance ads, Deliverr sellers were able to get their listings in front of significantly more buyers than last year, which led to some great sales results (but quite a few stockouts).
