A Day in the Life of a Deliverr Employee – Mid-Market Account Executive

day in the life

Amir “It’s Always Sunny” Bavani

How did you first hear about Deliverr and the job opening?

A previous coworker of mine reached out about the opportunity at Deliverr.  He knows how passionate I am about sales and that I’ve always wanted to be part of a start-up with a huge runway for growth.  After researching more & viewing some youtube videos, I knew that Deliverr had great potential for my personal and professional growth. I had to be a part of this company!

What’s your title at Deliverr and how long have you been with the company?

I am a Mid-Market Account Executive. I help brands diversify their sales channels for more recognition, decrease marketing costs while paying less for fulfillment! I’ve been at the company for a little over a year now.  Started as an SMB Account Executive, and after meeting targets, as well as my own personal goals, I was promoted to Mid-Market Account Executive within 7 months!

How is working in a remote environment at Deliverr?  What does the company or team do to foster a cohesive environment?

This is my first entirely remote role and I was a bit apprehensive about what it would be like initially.  I’m a very social person and have loved the relationships I’ve been able to build in previous roles within the office environment.  That being said… I love working remotely at Deliverr and have found it incredibly easy to make and maintain friendships within my team.  We are working on some new initiatives now to have monthly team gatherings focused solely on building connections with each other while enjoying interactive games and activities.

From a day-to-day perspective, I have complete ownership of my schedule and an amazing management team that meets requests for support or development with the right amount of attention to facilitate personal and professional growth.

Aside from the connection and collaboration with my coworkers, it has also given me both the time and freedom to help me prioritize a work-life balance and my growing family!  Instead of spending hours commuting, I have evenings to spend with my family.  It even has allowed us to move from the frozen tundra we call Chicago to the desert heat of Arizona to be closer with family and friends.

What comprises a typical day for you?

My wife & I have become early risers because of our 2-year-old daughter.  So my mornings consist of some family time, coffee, meditation, and a quick workout to get my mind right for the day ahead! I tend to start my workdays with emails, tasks, and top priority follow-ups for my existing customers. Then, I have time blocked off for prospecting through cold calling, emails, and Linkedin connections to build my pipeline and bring on new opportunities.  In Mid-Market, sales cycles are much more complex so a lot of my time is spent researching my prospects and finding ways Deliverr can add value & alleviate their pain points.

What’s the BEST part of working for Deliverr?

It’s been refreshing to hear the founders speak to us about their growth plans and get an inside look into their “out of the box” mindset. This has allowed me to understand our “why” even more. I can’t answer this question without also bringing up my tremendous teammates! Being remote would have been a struggle if I didn’t have as many great connections as I do right now with my colleagues, and now friends!

What is your favorite perk at Deliverr?

Sheesh! This is a hard question because we are offered so many benefits and perks while being remote.  My top 3 are: Unlimited PTO, our monthly stipend to spend on anything (yes, even UberEats!) & a yearly budget for health & wellness!

What separates Deliverr from other places you’ve worked?

We have complete insight into what our leadership team’s goals are to separate us from the competition.  This allows for everyone to understand their part within the bigger goal of the company!

What did you do before coming to Deliverr?

I have always been in sales, as I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and providing them a value add through my expertise. My previous roles range from starting my own all-natural ketchup company, working at a law firm, to where I’m at now –  providing best-in-class service at a third-party logistics company! I can wholeheartedly say, this role & company have been one of the most challenging, yet rewarding I have been a part of!

Finally, what would be your one piece of advice for someone interested in the role?

You are essentially a project manager in the mid-market role.  You need to be organized to keep track of external requests, internal processes, and move forward with the best plan of action that is the most efficient & beneficial for our customers! Every day brings its own unique challenges, but as long as you have daily, weekly and monthly goals you will be able to track your progress and ask for help when needed.  The key is to continue being curious to learn and become an expert, as your customers are depending on you to provide the best level of service & value!
